Ed Edd N Eddy Do It Again Party Line

Over Your Ed is named later the phrase "Over Your Head."  This is plumbing equipment enough, since the Eds kind of go over the kids' heads by making them believe Ed is cool.  I'thou surprised and kind of impressed that they didn't go for a more relevant reference phrase, like "My Fair Lady" (but that works out for them, because in season 3 there IS an episode called My Fair Ed )

I think this title menu is very pretty.  It would expect slap-up in a children's storybook.  It is not straight related to the episode, but I suppose the star is related to Ed'due south rising to stardom amid his neighbors, and the location looks vaguely like full general Peach Creek locations.  More often than not this title card reflects the actual title, with the star patently going over the heads of whoever lives in those houses.

Edit 9/27/2014: 'Over Your Ed' was storyboarded by Karen Lloyd, Scott Diggs, and Big Jim (his first board, he claims merely the opening bath pan remains from his version).

First appearance of Edd's bathroom!  I believe he has more than ane?  Merely I call back this is the simply one we actually go a adept wait at.  It might be the one that his parents get renovated in ' Cleanliness is Adjacent to Edness ' just it's kinda hard to tell since they had the entire room ripped out in that episode.

• This is a very early episode, either the 2nd or quaternary in product.  Edd'southward lid has not been established as a mystery yet, so whoever drew this had no motive to draw lumpy and was probably just trying to draw a normal caput distorted past a lumpy shower cap.

• In some shots the colors of the cap modify and the first shot doesn't even draw the details within the cap.  That farther indicates how little they were paying attention to it.

• The staff is aware of this lapse in judgment over the Edd'due south chapeau mystery and considered jokingly using the same transparent shower cap design when he spent almost all of ' Cleanliness is Next to Edness ' in a shower cap.  This suggests that the crew does not take this as a serious hint.

• All the same, this is a pretty reasonable caption for all nosotros understand.  It doesn't rule out how much pilus he has, since we tin't fifty-fifty see his iii usual hairs through the cap, and the head shape is consistent with what glimpses we've seen of the remainder of his caput.

• If information technology's only lumpy because of baloney, and so information technology's still pretty long and weirdly conical, a reasonable thing for Edd to be embarrassed about.

Introducing Boil's downstairs bathroom!  This may be his own private bathroom, which would be cute.  In ' Cleanliness is Next to Edness ' it seems to connect to his bedroom, just Eddy's house constantly changes layout, and I'm sure this bath has switched floors before.

His upstairs bath has a tub instead of a shower.

Eddy is singing a vocal that I've e'er idea sounded like he'due south just saying "bucka bucktooth bow!"

I don't understand why his hair is so curt in the shower…

Eddyyyy, why is your soap more dark-green than your flavour 1 tongue?  That's ridiculous.

I kinda like that he wears goggles in the shower, though, haha.

Eddy accidentally swallows the soap and seems more bothered past it coming back up as suds rather than the taste or the choking…  As well, Eddy's eyes become dots with lines rather than his usual full cartoon eyes.

Introducing Ed'due south bathroom!  It is introduced similarly to Edd and Eddy'southward bedrooms in previous episodes, with jump cuts to specific parts of the room.

I like that the floor tiles become straight downwardly only like his kitchen tiles.

Ed keeps lots of reading material nearby…

Well, at least Ed brushes his teeth!

Ed walks into the room.  He forgets why he walked in there and walks correct out again.  Ed doesn't launder himself like his friends do.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE TOILET AND SINK!?

That's a really nice bending on Ed'due south head, though. I like getting to see the top of his buzzcut.

Edd n Eddy accept gotten started with a scam, but their booth collapses.

Where exactly ARE they right now, though?  That house behind them doesn't expect like any house on the cul-de-sac… Are they scamming some arbitrary street with tiny houses?

I know no 1 else cares, but I just notice every weird house in EEnE…

I kind of like the animation errors where Eddy'due south lighter eyelid colors go off his face. It makes me feel ameliorate virtually how annoying it is whenever I take to color that role. The official model sheet calls them sunlamp eyes, I remember.  Not sure if he'due south supposed to have seriously gotten that marker from an endeavour at tanning, though.

The pain stars aren't every bit childishly drawn this episode…

Ed shows up and Eddy has him put upwards the sign for their scam. En-o-Gee Drinks!  Those drinks are referenced subtly in season 2, and fans seem to be fond of this scam.  I kind of wish it got more references in the bear witness.

Also, the firm they're in forepart of has changed?  It now looks vaguely like Boil's (mostly just because it'southward pinkish), but information technology'south not much of a house… It's actually just a garage with an extension, because there'southward no front end door or windows… Weird weird weird.

Eddy's… oral cavity seems to have a loose thread…  I like this face up otherwise, though, and I'1000 kinda glad they didn't testify Ed was evil-smelling by giving it a greenish stink deject, although this looks more than similar perfume.

While Edd counts grains of carbohydrate, Eddy unloads an entire handbag of sugar. Boil is… spontaneous.

Ed wants to help merely Edd doesn't desire anymore carbohydrate in the drink.  If only he knew…

He realizes Ed also smells bad and politely tells him to go away then Edd tin can gustation the drink.

I always love how this jaw animates, it's like information technology's on a hinge.

Edd's running gag in this episode is probably 1 of my favorite bits in the whole show.  I would not have minded some more hyper Edd.

A lot of neat faces in this scene too, it feels a lot more than like a later episode, I recall.

Hyper Edd has hilarious smears.

Edd tells Boil the drink's great and reminds him to get customers.  Boil is very confused.

Ed wants to be the "Sales Ed" (I wonder if "Sales Ed" is a term they assign to ane of them each scam) and Eddy tells him he'd only mess it upwards.

Edd convinces Boil to let Ed exercise this.

Eddy kinda uses Ed every bit a loudspeaker, just since we've already seen Eddy tin can use a traffic cone or Actual loudspeaker for that, he'due south probably simply feeding Ed his lines since Ed doesn't know what to say.

While Edd runs laps in the background, Kevin and Nazz are drawn at an unflattering angle, walking towards the Eds on this unfamiliar street!

Nazz giggles at Ed and Kevin questions the scam's proper name.

Across the street, Edd continues his marathon. There seems to be another houseless garage next to what I guess is a clay path into wood.  WHERE ARE THEY?

Ed tries to make a auction, but haplessly destroys the stand in the process.  This kind of becomes the usual way scams get for the Eds.

This is such archetype slapstick, I dear information technology.

Like, I usually recollect slapstick is impaired when the joke is only a character got injure, but this is such a complicated setup, I love it.

Ed spills the drinkable and Kevin avoids stepping in information technology.  His hands are so TINY!!!

Nazz jokingly says she'll pass and Kevin calls the Eds dorks.

Edd is hopping on 1 leg.

Anyway, Boil is mad.  Edd suggests a complete epitome makeover for Ed.

Boil thinks this is brilliant, they'll brand Ed the coolest!

Okay, at present THIS I experience looks like Boil's house.  It'southward still got some weird season ane colors, but they're at to the lowest degree trying in this scene.

Edd has ready a cleaning machine that they put Ed through.  They… don't really use that last part of the machine that appears to be for drying Ed…

The Eds have worn many different colored wigs and been able to go a few different hair lengths and colors to appear that don't brand sense beyond cartoon humor.

The best answer I've gotten is that the Eds' hair can do anything and be whatsoever colour with proper combing, regardless of existent world logic, so it's really not worth thinking likewise much most.  Still, fans seem pretty fastened to redhead Ed, and AKA does not approve of blonde Edd.

Now it's time to go Ed dressed!  Edd does a handstand.

Introducing Boil's cupboard of dreams!

I like to imagine that these are mostly his brother'south cool outfits and scam costumes, and probably a few paw-me-downs and Christmas clothes from his parents.  Though his pride for this closet kind of makes information technology questionable how much he hates the apparel he gets for Christmas.  I judge it's understandable that he'd prefer gadgets, though.

Eddy has high heels in his shoe collection.  The artists love hiding things like that.

Edd measures Ed, but I'm surprisingly not obsessed enough to take notes on that function of the episode.

I am notwithstanding obsessed enough to betoken out that Eddy's room is backwards in this shot, and that Hyper Edd is crawling under Eddy's bed even though, in the previous episode, Sober Edd wouldn't fifty-fifty sit on it, haha.

Ed does expect pretty cool!  Though, I think in real life that pinkish jacket would look kinda goofy.

Besides, I dear Eddy's "Live and Sweatin' Tom Jones" affiche.

The angle (or general blueprint) of Eddy'due south house interior makes no sense hither, only I actually merely took this screenshot for Hyper Edd bouncing effectually some more.

Adjacent upward is some more classic slapstick!  What makes slapstick funny is not the violence simply the timing, and I call up that's what some shows forget (including EEnE in subsequently seasons frequently).

Run into? It'southward not funny because Eddy got hurt (in fact, it's funnier that he'south clearly unphased past how Ed just landed on him), it'southward funny because it's unexpected and the timing is perfect.

Jimmy's coming downwards the lane and Ed starts to get stage fearfulness while Edd n Boil hibernate in a trash tin can to observe.

Ed makes this groovy face.

Jimmy is skipping and singing and doesn't fifty-fifty recognize Ed, greeting him equally if he were some foreign dainty adult.

Jimmy'southward actually adorable in season one.  I hated seeing him used every bit a jinx in these early episodes, so I was glad when he started becoming evil and getting revenge in subsequently episodes.  Unfortunately, about people don't like him. ):

Also, Jimmy's injury of the day is bandaged fingers.

I think that'southward what he says.  Jimmy giggles at it, though, and Ed responds with this:

Jimmy is not scared past that face up, though, and invites Ed to hang out with him.

That's a pretty cool pose and quote, but I'm pretty certain Edd doesn't deserve credit for coming up with that line…

From the trashcans, Edd n Eddy remark "something actually worked!"  I notice information technology strange that they address the "Eds ever lose" concept here (and also attempt to subvert it) when they've only really lost in one other episode so far…

Hyper Edd is still a neat freak and removes filth earlier speeding away.

By the fashion, I can't help but observe that there'due south kind of a blackness triangle at the bottom of the screen through this whole episode.  I crop it out in some of these screenshots, only information technology's bothering me that this is apparently the all-time quality CN has of the episodes.  Possibly the original film was kleptomaniacal or something…

Season 1 has a lot of these scenes that are but pans across wherever the kids are and showing what they practise to pass the time before the Eds show upwardly and ruin everything.

Sarah and Nazz are chatting.  Something fans noticed right away is that for "walla" scenes (when a group of people are talking), EEnE tends to reuse lines from previous episodes instead of just recording mumbling.  In this case (which may be the first instance), Nazz uses the "You're funny" line she said to Eddy in the previous episode.

Kevin bikes by and looks funny.

Jonny and Plank are watching Rolf dig.  Rolf has a bucket next to him, and then I guess he's looking for something!

The kids seem to take every bit much trouble recognizing Ed every bit Jimmy did.  Ed greets them with "Peekabaloo, I run into you all besides!"

Nazz compliments Ed'south pilus.

I'll get more into the topic of Nazz's character (or lack thereof) in later episodes, merely I think this scene works well with the theory I've built from other episodes.  Edd lost his series bible "prone to crushes" trait, and it instead went to Nazz, who seems to have a bit of a crush on every boy, but is too mature to be crazy most it like the Kankers.

"Don't smell information technology, merely gel it!"

Rolf laughs with no teeth.  Sarah's mouth is really weird and wiggly. I think she's supposed to be grumbling simply I don't hear any noise from her.

Kev'due south babe hands make it look like he's freezing…

Simply Kevin goes "Simply WHAT ARE You UP TO?"

and Ed has a pretty intelligent comeback!

So Ed is 12 years old and already nigh 6 anxiety tall…  jeeeeeez

It sounds similar Sarah has started laughing and Kevin is shocked!

I don't know why, only the brim of Kevin'southward hat turns cherry a few times in flavour 1 episodes and clipart…  I don't understand how that mistake is fabricated since it's probably easier to ink information technology blackness than information technology is to paint it red…

Kevin plays it cool and laughs along with everyone else.

The kids march off with Ed, inviting him to things.  Kevin's invite to "hang with united states" sounds a fleck sarcastic.

Jonny and Plank have vanished.

Oh, never mind, Jonny'southward back!  Simply now Sarah's gone.

…Why did they all walk away saying they wanted to hang out, if they were only going to stop and practice the same exact things a few paces down the lane?

I'yard glad this episode is creative, because I would commonly expect Eddy to be jealous of Ed's popularity.  He instead sees that the Eds have access to something the kids want (Ed), and that they can go coin out of this.

Westward-why are they advertisement Ed like he's a magician?  All he does is say catchphrases!

This shot taught me to describe Jonny'southward head, because I realized it'due south shaped like those weird jellybean-esque shadows the show loves to apply (such as the low-cal the kids are continuing in the previous grouping shot).

I'm not sure whose shed this is… It may exist Edd's (Edd unremarkably has a black tree similar that in his backyard and I think the colors wait right inside and out), or it could just be a random season ane shed. I believe it appears again in 'Ed and Seek'.  Hopefully I'll recollect to keep track of that.

I'm too non certain about the shed they were using for their lie detector in the first episode…  I guess that would simply be a darker version of Edd's shed?  Or perhaps that one was Eddy'southward, I don't think we ever go to have scenes actually inside Eddy's shed, so information technology could piece of work.

Eddy makes certain Jonny and Plank pay, but there are a lot more quarters than kids… Approximate it's a visual thing, but maybe Eddy's been forcing extra costs out of the other kids the aforementioned way he made sure Plank paid.

It… looks like they didn't finish this groundwork, haha.  That appears to exist the edge of the pigment down by Sarah in that location, and Nazz is clearly continuing on the ruby paint of the curtain…

Or Kevin with closed eyes.  Why is Ed's performance making him look so… relaxed?

Okay, so there are a lot of issues with this part.

1.  This episode aired before Nagged To Ed , but the Kankers testify up without caption and Boil acts like he knows who they are.  If this were my first impression of them, I'd call up they were just mean kids in the cul-de-sac, rather than creeps from some other neighborhood.

2. Even with Nagged To Ed logically happening first, the Kankers act a bit odd hither. They are purely antagonistic, and the Eds do not seem afraid of a romance, although Marie does hit on Ed.

3. Not a continuity problem, simply just something that bugs me: the Kankers come completely out of nowhere.  Information technology starts a whole trend in the series that is honestly pretty lazy, that the Kankers can come in and ruin everything without existence setup in the story.  I feel like past the end of the show, those endings kind of become a joke in themselves, the writers and characters beingness aware of how the Kankers kind of only appear at the worst times without any reasoning.  But information technology's notwithstanding a diabolus ex machina.

As well, in this shot, May and Marie kinda twitch and open their mouths even though they don't say anything.

"YABBA DABBA CRACKERS!"

I can't tell if Ed is using that catchphrase considering "Crackers" sounds like "Kankers" (or if he didn't hear "Kankers" properly), or if information technology's just a coincidence that the two words audio similar.

This is our first time seeing the Kankers in an episode with the kids, but they don't really interact, the kids just cower to the sidelines.

The Kankers pressure Ed to say something smart and he gets stage fright again and takes out his notes.

Giant-headed May exposes that Ed is cheating past using the notes.

"I Similar CHEATERS!!!"

WHAT THE HELL, MARIE!?  Sure, kids may recall "she'south a bad girl, she likes boys who cheat on tests" merely this really feels to me similar the writers were implying she wants to be cheated on, which is really screwed upwardly.  Marie, what has your mother'south lifestyle TAUGHT you!?

She pulls his jacket off, spinning him like a top.  What always bothers me, though, is that most of this spinning colour is his dark-green jacket, which he isn't wearing.

Like with his previous slapstick bits, empty-headed Ed clumsily tears down the pall and gets stuck in information technology. The Kankers push him around.

Edd n Eddy try to assistance.  They manage to rip a hole out for his caput, but the Kankers use that to strip him downward to his unders.

May, what is that confront?

In that location's some dialogue here where May says "let us help you lot upwardly" and Marie adds "yes, let's" and I've ever enjoyed how that exchange demonstrates "let'southward" as a contraction of "permit united states," because I don't usually recall of information technology as two words.

The Kankers push him into Edd and Eddy.

The Eds kinda only float (it's a actually boring ricochet) into a wheelbarrow of fertilizer.

At present that the Eds all need showers again, the kids are offended by the odor and run from the smell (instead of from the Kankers), and the Eds are apparently back at square one with popularity.

And because the Kankers are obviously dirty thieves on superlative of being calumniating molesters, they leave with the Eds' adequately earned greenbacks.

Eddy flips his lid and attacks.  It was bad enough when they were trying to make the Eds their husbands, merely nobody messes with his coin.

But the Kankers shut the door in his face and apparently that's all he needed to make him give up.

I think the most unusual thing about this story structure is that the Eds don't lose their money because of hubris or failure to satisfy the customer, but because of robbers they have no control over.  Part of me prefers it not being the Eds' fault, compared to subsequently episodes where their customers are constantly the ones trying to accept back coin, but it's still lazy writing.

The Eds hang out in front of the candy store. I guess they similar to await at the jawbreakers they tin can't have when they're depressed about beingness robbed?

This is the concluding time we encounter the candy store until flavor 3, by the way.

Edd is nursing a hangover from the en-o-gee drink, and Eddy is complaining most how they lost all that money and fame.  I wouldn't call beingness popular with kids on ane street "fame," but alright, Boil.

Ed tries to cheer them up with a catchphrase he came up with on his own.

"The cheese is always twice the fencepost!"

Edd's socks are missing. Ed goes dorsum to trying to catch his flies.

Eddy says "I wish I had a fencepost, Ed."  I experience that's a very unclear fashion of telling Ed he wants to smack him with a fencepost, merely anybody probably understood and then I judge I didn't demand to annotate on it.

And, uh, that's the catastrophe!  This is definitely a lose for the boys.

I guess I'll comment on the credits too since there's never going to be a real reason to do that otherwise:

I really love this epitome of the Eds all thumbs-upping in imperial.  Information technology seems kind of reassuring later you spotter an episode of them losing, and it'south very fitting that they seem to exist alright for no reason other than they have each other.  Ambrosial.  It would've been so nifty if there were a signal in the serial where the Eds all shifted into these poses.

The yellow, blackness and royal makes me think of Eddy, and I but realized that the font used for the credits is the aforementioned font they used for the Big Moving picture title card and on some of the licensed material.

Here'southward the a.grand.a. Cartoon logo.  The colors change every season, and every bit yous can see it's bluish on yellow in season one.

It is Danny being skewered by his own pencil, and I merely realized that he's right… they did edit out the assurance from the image, hahaha.

You can inappreciably see considering I accept no high quality image of the existent logo, but there are supposed to be balls under the high leg.  In that location'southward an alternate AKA logo that is a pencil with barbed wire balls, so they love to make their logos phallic!
